And Today" Original 1966 US issue "Butcher Cover LP. This is an extremely nice and authentic 1966 Mono Butcher LP that was professionally peeled by Gary Hein--arguably the world's finest Butcher cover peeler. The album is a #6 (West Coast/Los Angeles) variation and includes. A matching West Coast LP in VG to VG+ condition with MINT labels, an original matching "Capitol'66" yellow inner sleeve, and a clean repro of the Capitol Butcher recall letter on upgraded paper stock! The Butcher surface itself is very clean and is a great example of a proper peel job. There are hardly any issues to detract from the the overall excellent presentation of this rare, controversial and collectible cover. The top right corner has a small area of paper rubbing where the catalog number is. The title spine is intact but has some rubbing and the LP title has some letters partially rubbed off. The top and bottom spines are 90%+ intact with some minor paper loss--about 1--near the jacket opening. As you can see, the back cover is in terrific condition with a small bit of paper loss in the top left corner. These are all minor issues. Places where the top cover has been torn down to the cardboard, writing/staining on the butcher surface, and the tell-tale sign of a homemade peel job: a "haze" of paper or fibers still left on the top cover.

Many of these improperly peeled covers cannot be repaired since the top paper has "fused" to the Butcher below from steaming with an iron or using the wrong solvents. Peeling a Butcher cover properly is an art that very few know how to do properly.

Gary Hein was known in the Beatles community as the one of the most knowledgeable and successful Butcher cover peeler/restorers. Hein unfortunately passed about two weeks ago and there is no one left to replace the wealth of experience and knowledge he brought to the Beatles community in regard to Butcher covers and peeling them. We suspect that his peeled covers--including this excellent example--will increase in value rapidly as a result.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a GENUINE 1966 Butcher in amazing shape! The LP comes in a Discwasher-style Japanese rice-paper sleeve. The LP cover comes in a Japanese resealable sleeve.
