The Beatles vinyl lp Please Please Me mono PMC 1202 1st UK pressing with the Black & Gold labels and Dick James credits. Matrix with stampers and mothers. You can read more here. This record has been cleaned on a Okki Nokki RCM and test played in full to be graded. Vinyl is Side 1 Good+ / Side 2 Fair.
The vinyl has quite a few surface marks on both sides. There are some pops, occasional light clicks and a little background crackle which are mostly noticeable between tracks. However very frustratingly about two thirds of the way through the last track on Side 2, Twist and Shout, it sticks.
Side 2 plays VG until Twist and Shout. I have graded conservatively which I hope won't deter all potential buyers; Side 1 is a very weak VG so this lps plays in and around VG until about a minute from the end of Side 2.
Gold' front laminated Sleeve is Fair. There is a 11cm tear along the bottom spine from the opening and some of the flip back is missing on the bottom edge.
Some of the layers of the sleeve card are beginning to come apart. The spine is fully legible. Polylined paper inner sleeve is a bit stained but otherwise is in very good condition. Summary:- Listenable audio of this rare mono 1st pressing with very early stampers.
Grading system used:- Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever.Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
