Visually the vinyl has a decent amount of surface wear. There are a fair few spindle trails and marks on the labels of both sides and it's pretty clear that this record was played a lot back in it's day. There are countless sleeve removal marks, hairline marks, scuffs and scratches across both sides. There's a lot of wear, and visually it only grades as Fair, however the record still manages to play through without skipping or jumping anywhere on my system.
The record does play a little better than it looks, just with persistent hiss / crackling throughout both sides of the record, especially in the right channel. There are some rotational ticks and pops but very little in comparison to what you'd expect with the way the playing surfaces look. Overall I think that the record grades as Good but no higher. Luckily the track that matters the most, "Tomorrow Never Knows" with it's withdrawn mix sounds a lot nicer in comparison to most other tracks on this record, with the surface noise being a little bit more minimized and only some rotational ticking / thumping in places which you really have to carefully listen for.I think that if you sum your cartridge to mono then the play-grade of this track specifically could be a very conservative Good +. This record is quite worn down and I want that to be very clear, but it can still provide a nice listening experience and it could serve as a good collection filler / starter copy. If you sum your cartridge to mono then there will be improvements in sound across the whole record and I'd highly recommend doing it. Please note your results with this may vary and I have play-graded this in stereo on a very revealing deck to avoid any disappointment.
It's just because of the lighting I take my photos in - unfortunately I can't improve on it. The original Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover is in Good. It's holding together okay but it shows it's wear in the form of yellowing / discolouration, laminate wear and lifting, wear to the corners and openings and also a large seam split on the bottom which has been photographed. It's definitely seen better days and perhaps some rough storage too. It's not actually the worst I've ever had but it's not the nicest by any means. Surprisingly, the spine text is still readable too. Comes with a generic paper inner sleeve from the 1980s which is in a nice shape.Unfortunately this is what it came with and I don't have any spare originals. Any questions, please give me a shout!
