Here we offer a very rare paste-over issue of the 1964 first pressing U. In mono of the The Beatles' Capitol debut album, Meet the Beatles. Rushed out on the heels of an unexpectedly successful hit single "I Want to Hold Your Hand". When sales of Meet the Beatles went through the roof after their Ed Sullivan appearance, Capitol ran out of cardboard sleeves and year-old sleeves from less-successful artists were repurposed for Beatle service. In this case, they took a copy of a Debussy Clair de Lune sleeve and wrapped them in new Meet the Beatles paste-downs.
This copy has been neatly peeled a few inches, so it is easy to see the alteration. Includes the original paper record sleeve. The cover has only minor edgewear, fading and soiling, with a name faintly written on back (please see pics).
Truly a rare and interesting piece of Beatles history. The record included is in VG/G+ condition. Some marks but plays well. Please make an offer and we will get back to you. All my records are cleaned to the best of my ability, usually Vinyl Vac or Ultrasonic cleaning with distilled water and mild detergents. Grading is done on Audio Technica LP-3 and may or may not play the same on your system depending on qu.
