Here we have the complete'Country Flag' Series Japan Vinyl LP collection! This awesome set is comprised of 40 albums on a total of 46 audiophile vinyl LPs. Issued in June 1976 to promote the'EAS' series of Beatles reissues and in production from 1976 to 1982. This style of Obi is known as'Type-9' or'Country Flag' series Obi. It is a wide Obi which displays the flag of the LP's country of origin.

The LP's series number (1 to 40) is located on the Apple logo and also at an angle on the lower edge of the Obi. Albums numbers 1 to 29 are on the APPLE label and numbers 30 to 40 on the EMI-Odeon label.

Only vinyl records with a visual and audio grade of at least EX to NM are included in this lot. Album covers, original obi strips, English and Japanese lyrics inserts, photos, posters and booklets are all in VG+ to NM condition. It took me a few years to bring this collection together as only'complete' copies are included. This means that each of the titles in this collection comes with all the original inserts, posters and inserts as originally. Released by Toshiba-EMI of Japan.

Only the black inner sleeves which came with some of these titles are not originals. All 48 LPs are stored in new, white acid-free. A unique feature of Japanese LPs is a fragile strip of paper called an "Obi" (pronounced oh'-bee; literally meaning "belt") wrapped around the cover.

The practice of wrapping an Obi around an LP started many years before the Beatles releases and continues up to the present day. The Obi is generally used as a marketing tool, and Obi designs are as varied as the LPs they decorate.

Some Obis display attractive graphics and provide a list of the songs on the album or other information considered useful to the consumer. All 42 covers, obi strips, photo and lyric inserts, booklets and posters are individually graded below. Also conservatively graded is the visual and audio quality of each of the 48 vinyl LPs.
