The Beatles Please Please Me - Demo UK Promo 7 vinyl single, 1962. Side a: 7XCE 17217 - 1N. Side b: 7XCE 17218 - 1N. THE BEATLES Please Please Me, impossibly rare 1963 UK'A' label demonstration sample vinyl 7 for the single release. Also including Ask Me Why, in an EMI group'Top PopRush Release' die cut paper sleeve.
These Demos were issued in late 1962 as the single was released on January 11th 1963. They were issued in a'Top Pop Rush Release' sleeve. This was the single that kickstarted the Beatles on their incredible journey. The number twelve is written in the centre push out on both sides, presumable for a 12th January proposed release date, although there is also a three, so it may also be that it arrived on 3rd December.
There is also a small faded yellow cross in a circle on the A side. Who knows what these signify? The playing surface has lots of visible small scuffs and hairlines on both sides, varying in visibility from spider hairlines to the more obvious scuffs. Having said that though, although there are obvious scuffs and hairlines it is amazingly free of anything you'd call a seep scratch' and plays from beginning to end without jumps, skips or major defects.
There is some evident surface noise, but it plays through without significant issue. Very Good (VG) condition and plays through without fault. This first demo single is very rare and difficult to find. The few of these that survived are locked in private collections and only very rarely hit the market and consequently command huge sums of cash.
